GLOSSHOUZ MEDPSA FAQ

What is the difference between BOTOX® and fillers (like Juvederm® and Restylane®)?

BOTOX is the most popular neurotoxin in the U.S. today and is used to temporarily inhibit muscle contractions and thereby eliminate wrinkles around your eyes, across your forehead, and between your brows for about 3 months.

Fillers, such as Juvederm and Restylane (two brands also made by different companies) are hyaluronic acid particle substances that are used to restore fullness to your face in areas where you need it. Over time, we lose volume in our cheeks, under our eyes, and in our lips. Or perhaps, we just want fuller lips for cosmetic reasons.  Products such as Juvederm and Restylane can add fullness to these areas to enhance our looks or make us look better instantly.  Juvederm and Restylane fillers can last up to a nine months to two years or longer depending on which type you select.

Who will be doing my medical spa treatments at Glosshouz?

Glosshouz registered nurses medical personnel provide the medical spa treatments.  These nurses are trained in aesthetics for safety and technique and have a great deal of knowledge about the facial antomy and enhancement process.   Also hugely important, Glosshouz medical injectors must have an eye for beauty with the ability to envision how the product or treatment will be best placed to optimize your appearance.  Glosshouz currently has eight cosmetic nurse personnel. All medical staff are evaluated by our medical director and have the licensing, certifications, training, qualifications and the experience required to provide a safe and expert application of the services that we offer (Face InstaLift(TM), neurotoxin BOTOX, Juvederm and Restylane fillers, and Kybella for fat reduction, as well as lasers and other). Our aesthetic nurses have expert knowledge about the treatments you need to enhance your natural beauty and improve your appearance without looking over-done.

Are BOTOX, Juvederm, Restylane, Kybella, Sculptra injections safe?

All injectable products offered at Glosshouz are thoroughly vetted and approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for our guest's safety.  Our aesthetic nurse providers are all trained by the manufacturer's to learn how to provide the treatments safely. As with most aesthetic injections, there are some common and some rare serious side effects that could be experienced.  Each product page (found from the main Medical Spa menu does list all of the common or rare side effects information for each type of treatment.

Why are there so many types of Juvederm and Restylane products?

The Juvederm brand (made by company Allergan who makes BOTOX) includes Juvederm Ultra, Juvederm Ultra Plus, Juvederm Voluma, Juvederm Volbella and now Juvederm Vollure and Volux!  Likewise, the Restylane family of products (made by Galderma who also makes Dysport) includes Restylane-L, Restylane Lyft, and Restylane Silk, Restylane Defyne and Refyne!  All of these products are made of hyaluronic acid but with different particle sizes.   Various size particle fillers are best suited for different areas of the face and how you want them to look.

Glosshouz medical injectors, who have years of experience, will recommend which product you need based upon what you want to achieve.

What is Sculptra? Is it a filler and how is it different than Juvederm & Restylane?

Unlike Juvederm & Restylane hyaluronic acid gel-like substance fillers, Sculptra is a micro-particulant that is mixed with sterile water and injected into the skin.  The micro-perticles are made of PLLA (Poly-L Lactic Acid) which is biodegradeabale over time.  The treatment results are gradual and create typically longer-lasting, subtle and natural looking results over time.  Sculptra works to restore facial volume and create a more rejuvenated dermal skin layer by helping the skin produce collagen fibers and fibroblasts.  While Juvederm and Restylane fillers results are instant, Sculptra works over time with a series of treatments.  Learn more about Sculptra Aesthetic and Sculptra Pricing here.

What is Face Threadlift Procedure using Silhouette InstaLift® or MINT® PDO Threads and what is the price of a Face Threadlift Procedure?

Silhouette InstaLift(TM) and MINT PDO are two brands of threads used to create the Face Threadlift procedure at Glosshouz.  Thread Procedures are in-office treatments offered at Glosshouz which are customized and designed to help lift sagging skin.  The thread procedure does create immediate lift in the skin but also has the added benefit of to help develop collagen over time to restore a more youthful appearance.  The treatment involves placing tiny disolving threads (suture material) into the skin and requries a few punctures to the dermis in order to install the threads into place. A local Lidocaine injection at the entry points helps keep the client very comfortable during the treatment. At Glosshouz, available Face Threadlift Procedure Treatments include:

  • InstaLift(TM) Brow Lift to lift sagging brows/hooded eyes or just to create a cateye look

  • InstaLift(TM) Face Procedure to target lifting cheeks, nasolabial folds and marionette lines

What is Kybella® and what is the price of Kybella?

Kybella is an injection treatment that is used to permanently reduce under chin fullness. It can also be used to effectively treat fullness in the jowels.  Tiny acid injections work over time to permanently destroy fat cells in the treatment area.  Usually, 2-4 vials over two visits are required for optimal treatment. The solution is permanent, so once optimal treatment is achieved no future sessions will be required.  The price of Kybella is based on how many vials you buy at once.  The price per Kybella vial can be found on the Kybella product  page at - Kybella Prices.

What is a VIVACE RF Microneedling Facial and what is the price of that versus regular Microneedling?

A VIVACE RF Microneedling facial procedure at Glosshouz is performed by a trained esthetic professional or other medical professional.  Your facial skin is numbed with a topical anesthetic and then a skin "pen" device is used to create thousands of tiny vertical punctures in your skin.  This effectively wounds and restructures your surface skin in a controlled manner (similar to laser treatments).  With VIVACE RF Micorneedling, the added benefit of RF (Radio Frequency) energy is emmitted in layers throughout the skin and this also causes skin tightening.  Your skin's natural healing mechanisms take over which induce collagen production. This treatment can be very effective for smoothing scarred damaged skin and reducing pore sizes. The Price for VIVACE RF Microneedling and regular microneedling can be found on the product page - RF Microneedling Prices.

Does it hurt to get the InstaLift(TM) Face Thread Procedure?

The InstaLift(TM) Thread Procedure at Glosshouz is very comfortable.  The client is first injected with Lidocaine to the insertion areas and this numbs the skin so that you do not feel any pain.

What is the downtime, recovery time after getting InstaLift(TM) Thread Procedure?

While everyone is different, typically after an InstaLift(TM) Thread Procedure at Glosshouz, the recovery downtime is minimal. You may experience bruising, swelling, soreness for a few days up to a week or so. As with any treatment involving an injection to the skin, there is a risk of infection.  All guests will be given take-home aftercare instructions.

Does it hurt to get BOTOX?

BOTOX is injected with the smallest of needle types. It is typically a very quick (less than 5 mins) type of service.  Most time for the appointment is dedicated to discussing which areas and how many units you may need today.  The procedure is almost over right after it gets started!  Many of our guests who decide to get BOTOX go without any numbing or icing at all. However, if you want to have the areas numbed first we can do that for you.

What is the downtime, recovery time after getting BOTOX?

The downtime after receiving BOTOX procedure is typically zero to none.  You may get a few red bumps where the product is injected which will typically go down in about 30 mins.  In fact, most people looking at you right after, would not even know you've had any BOTOX treatment!

Does it hurt to get Juvederm or Restylane?

When you come for an appointment to receive Juvederm or Restylane filler products at Glosshouz, you'll have the option to be numbed with topical anesthetic for 20 minutes prior to the procedure.  Some clients request this in order to "take the edge off" of the initial injections.  Generally speaking, different areas of the face have more or less nerves than others and are more or less painful.  For example, everyone feels differently of course, but typical feedback is that treatment under the eyes is not painful.  Likewise Juvederm or Restylane treatment for cheeks is not very painful.  Nasolabial folds (parenthesis lines from nose to mouth) are moderately painful as well as the marionette lines (from the corners of mouth downward) are moderately painful.  The lip injections are probably the most painful considering all of the areas of the face for injections.  However, both Juvederm and Restylane do have anesthetic in the injectable gel product itself.  So, you can think of it like getting dentist injections - this is to say, you can expect to feel the first prick of the needle, but within a couple of seconds the lidocaine anesthetic in the product itself starts working and the lip becomes quite numb so that you can only feel tugging or pressure but not pain.

What is the downtime, recovery time after getting Juvederm or Restylane?

The downtime, recovery time, after getting Juvederm or Restylane dermal filler injections is very dependent on each guest and which areas you are getting injected.  Typically, the cheek areas, the nasolabial fold lines beside the nose, as well as marionette lines around your mouth do not have adverse reactions to the filler products.  There is usually not that much swelling, if any at all, and you may leave the appointment looking only better from receiving the service.  You might be able to go right back to work! Lip injections, however, can swell significantly both during or after the appointment.  Some people may swell more than others and some do not swell at all.  Some people may also experience bruising at or near the injection area. Typically, all symptoms will resolve themselves within a couple days or up to one week after the procedure.

Does it hurt to get Kybella?

We can numb your under chin area prior to getting Kybella injections.  The under chin area injections do not hurt so much as the product itself does sting quite a bit for about 5 minutes.  After a few minutes, the under chin area becomes quite numb and you will not feel any pain.

What is the downtime, recovery time after getting Kybella?

There is typically no downtime after getting Kybella.  You can expect that your under chin area will swell quite a bit and you will look worse before better.  The whole process of the product eliminating the fat cells under your chin does take 4-6 weeks.  Typically, people will need at least two treatments to see significant results and may need 3 or 4 treatments overall.

Does it hurt to get Microneedling or VIVACE RF Microneedling?

When you come for a Microneedling service, you can expect that we will numb the facial (neck or decollete) surface areas prior to the microneedling procedure. The microneedling skin "pen" does prick your skin with tiny microneedles, so you can feel it.  However, some say that it "stings" the skin surface area more than it actually hurts. Some parts of the face do "sting" more than others, such as the bony areas of your forehead or your cheek bones and bridge of your nose.

What is the downtime, recovery time after getting VIVACE RF Microneedling?

Everyone is different, but the typical downtime after receiving a VIVACE RF Microneedling procedure is about one day.  During this time you will probably look as if you have a bad sunburn.  You might not want to go back to work or out in public like that. Also, parts of your skin may be slightly scabbed or bruised.  By the second day, you can expect that you can wear makeup and cover up this redness.  Your skin may peel by the third or fourth day, but this should be manageable with a good moisturizer.

Does it hurt to get Emsculpt Neo?

No! It doesn't hurt.   When you come for an Emsculpt Neo body sculpting treatment to lose fat and develop muscle you will first be weighed and your body hydration will be measured. (you want to be as hydrated as possible for this treatment, but you should not eat right before!).  Then we have you on the treatment table and a giant velcro strap is placed around your treatment area(s) - most commonly we treat abdomen area, but you can do abdominals, glutes, sides/flanks, inner/outer thighs, calves or biceps/triceps.  Then we place the Emsculpt Neo applicator right under the strap and against your bare skin.  When the session is begun, the device applicator wand will heat up significantly (but it shouldnt burn) and then the contractions will start.  Through the session you will have the intensity increasing and in does feel kindof bizarre.  If you've ever had a baby and labor contractions then you can imagine the feeling!

What is the downtime, recovery time after getting Emsculpt Neo Body Sculpting treatment?

There is no downtime!  In fact, same day you are able to workout if you want, but just skip the area you just treated with Emsculpt Neo - you already wroked it out!  Besides this, you may feel a little sore after like you worked out those muscles intensely but there should not be any downtime.  It is not uncommon that some females may have their menstrual cycle interrupted or induced early. Be sure to drink plenty of water after.
